Mission  statement:

St John's Progressive Childcare is a community based (Not for Profit) Centre, our service exists to offer inclusive, high quality care and education in a well resourced Centre with an optimum environment for learning for all children and their families.

    Our children and whanau are the main reason the Centre exists and we believe for that reason it is essential to create an environment where they feel safe, respected and protected.
    Our Centre will provide the children opportunities to develop, to learn, to extend their play and gain social and learning skills.  Supporting parents/whanau through the transistion process when we/they identify the child is ready to transistion.
    We aim to provide the best possible programmes for our children by supporting staff development.
    Our Centre recognises the need to support our parents and whanau decisions about their child's education and care, having open communication and building positive relationships with our families and the wider community.
    Our Centre supports the uniqueness of our children by providing a committment to offering continuity of care through Primary Care Giving to Primary Transistioning which allows children and parents to form trusting secure relationships with staff caring for the day to day needs of the children.
    Our  Centre will provide respectful, reciprocal relationships that recognise and support our children as individuals and will promote their values, beliefs, languages and cultures of our diverse community of learners and their families.
    Our Centre recognised the unique place of Maori as Tanagata Whenua and the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
    The curriculum offered to the children will be based on Te Whariki which will assist all our children to gain a wide variety of experiences in order for them to become confident, capable decision makers and knowledgeable learners and communicators who can work alongside others.
    Our teachers will maintain a high level of professionalism within the service and model appropriate behaviours.
    The Centre values are respected. Respect for each other and the children through honesty, integrity, team work and trust.

Our Centre will endevour to provide a warm, welcoming environment where children and parents feel safe and secure. Their child's education and care is paramount.
